President's Message

I have been reflecting lately, on all of the events of the last few years. Our organization took a giant leap forward and officially became a citywide entity. Our by-laws have been updated, mindful that the last revisions were ratified over a decade ago. We have embraced the latest technologies; the Internet (www.qbaonline.com ), community television (QATV Channel 8), broadcast e-mail and some traditional ones; newspaper (Quincy Sun, Patriot Ledger, Milton Times), radio (WJDA 1300) and bulk mailing to get our message across.

After the Spring and Fall plantings you should take a walk or drive by our adopted island, at the corner of the Paul Harold Concourse Bridge. Our volunteers and our island co-sponsor, Almquist's Flowerland put on a wonderful display.

If you keep up on all of the happenings at City Hall, you frequently hear about our tireless director, Maralin Manning speaking on behalf of your business concerns. Her assistant, Marie Watts makes sure that the Summer Street Festival and Fall Harvest-Fest run smoothly every year. I have seen first-hand the wonderful work that Maralin and Marie do every day of the week.

In closing, I would like to say to all that it has been a real pleasure working together with all of the members of this association. Special thanks go out to the wonderful QBA Board of Directors (all volunteers) that I have had the pleasure of getting together with every month. I look forward to welcoming our new Executive Committee and offer my support to the Quincy Business Association in the years ahead.

Thanks for listening, Eric
